The fieldwork was carried out from November 2002 through October 2003, with 20-day monthly visits. Mammals were recorded following the conventional methods for direct sampling. Based on the results obtained, there is an updated list of the mammals in Chipinque Ecologic Park in the Northwestern region of the State of Nuevo León. This area presents four natural environments located on an altitude gradient ranging from 800 to 2200 meters above sea level: Evergreen oak forest, pine-evergreen oak forest, evergreen-pine tree forest and submontane shrub land.

The mammal fauna in the park comprises 28 species including 11 carnivore, 5 chiropteran, 5 rodents, 2 artiodactyls, 2 insectivorous, 1 didelphimorphid, 1 xenarthra, and 1 lagomorphs. All of them include: their geographic affinity, taxonomic data, capturing information, kind of habitat, and distribution and abundance data. The corresponding analysis showed that Alfa diversity comprises 34.57% and beta diversity 65.43 of the gamma diversity of Chipinque Ecologic Park.
